VENTING OUT EMOTIONS

Ever felt so angry ? So frustrated ? Felt like sharing? Felt like shouting it all out? telling them how you feel? That’s venting. Venting means to let out strong and negative emotions, saying whatever that is coming to your mind. Life generate some level of stress daily. People sometimes are so frustrating that we feel like breaking their face. Stress, anger, frustration and other such negative emotions are unavoidable and if not released, then they can create more problems. Venting is all about a quick release of emotions . The nature of venting is quick brief and intense. It helps us process the negative feelings that the situation has triggered. Venting is never about a particular person, it’s about a situation. A clear, positive and stressfree mind is always a healthy mind. Things doesn’t always go our way. It’s better to let things out than to bottle them inside, creating a pressure cooker that can explode anytime. Venting out emotions like sadness, anxiety, anger and frustration eases our mind and body and relieves tension. It makes us feel light. if we hold our negative emotions inside for a long time, we may unavoidably loose our composure in an inappropriate way, like in front of our parents, boss, loved ones, etc. It’s better to vent out beforehand, to prevent such disastrous situations like getting fired or hurting your loved ones.

Venting out grants us an immediate relief and comfort. It helps us to restore our balance. When we vent our negative emotions to someone, we regain control on our feelings and see things with a different perspective. This can only be done if we have got the right person to assist us. Ought to be careful in choosing the person to whom we are venting. It feels great to have someone who you will listen and understand are situation which caused this venting, and shows care and support in return. The person can give you a fresh perspective to see things, since he/she is not a part of the situation. The anger and frustration in our mind ,during such situations, does not allow us to think clearly. At this time the trustable person that we are confiding to, can provide useful suggestions which we were not able to think of.

But every good thing has a downside . If we keep on venting our negative feelings to that one and only person, he/she may get agitated. They may feel that we are using them as our dumping ground and that we do not consider their feelings. Sometimes we directly vent to the person who was the reason of our frustration in the first place. Well that is not a good decision. They will activate their defence mode, and will obviously retaliate with more negative feelings. This will in turn worsen our feelings. It’s best to choose the person that we trust the most. Let’s say, for instance, you vent out your frustration to a person, and third person for the shares your information with others and well in no time it’s the new gossip. How would you feel? More frustrated, of course. Doing it with the wrong person can backfire. So what can we really do? Talk to someone who will not judge us and maybe not even know us but will support and understand us.
